I am fortunate to have seen a lot of the world; for business, for fun, for adventure, so I felt equipped to talk to Indagare Travel on their podcast series ‘Passport to Everywhere’. But I am especially grateful that the host, Melissa Biggs Bradley, anchored the conversation around my trips to Ukraine. Whilst travel to other destinations is always fascinating, my time in Ukraine has been the most meaningful.

I have posted our conversation above, you certainly don’t need to stay for the full forty five minutes, the first twenty will give you an understanding of why I go there, why it’s important to me and what I do to help as a board member of Global Empowerment Mission.

Traveling around the world; Botswana, Paris, Scotland, Spain, Australia, Eygpt, Kenya, Morocco, India
But Ukraine is the most meaningful. This was my third time to Ukraine but my first time wearing a bullet proof vest. We were so close to the Russian border we could feel the explosions under our feet and hear the missiles over head.

This past week was the normal fairly frantic one. I had a flurry of design meetings, in work shops, in studio’s, on zoom and sometimes on the go (naming a new linen collection from the back of an Uber can prove to be quite creative)

Talking of quite creative, I hosted Jonathan Adler’s new shop opening. It was a real bun fight (that’s a good thing) because everyone wants to come and meet a potty potter who sells ceramic boob jars and quaalude canisters (I had to look up how to spell quaalude, I promise)

And yesterday I introduced REX, a bag that could glide from the spectator spot on the edge of the school hockey pitch to a lost romantic weekend in Paris. The goal was simple. The challenge was anything but. For several months we trialed over and over different fashions, fabrics and fastenings of a bag that could not only be folded flat to be packed but also transform and adapt at a moment’s notice. We were creating this in aid of the Prince’s Trust. Every bag sold will directly benefit a young person in need.

Every Sunday I join my mother for lunch, in person, via zoom or like those design meetings sometimes even on the go. Just as long as we are together for Sunday Lunch. Because who wants to miss her stories….
